Raising Awareness for LUNG CANCER

The Fight for Air Climb Orlando was created to raise awareness for lung cancer in 2007 and has since helped to raise thousands of dollars towards research and awareness.  The event is held during Lung Cancer Awareness Month in an effort to drive national attention to this killer.  Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death and is the second most diagnosed cancer for both men and women.  Each year, more people lose their life to lung cancer than melanoma, breast, colon, kidney, prostate, and liver cancers…COMBINED.  Your participation in this event brings us one step closer to finding a cure to this devastating disease.

 Why Should You Climb?1

Your support helps the American Lung Association in the Fight for Air. With lung disease on the rise, we are fighting for research that will find a cure for tomorrow. We are fighting for those who can’t quit smoking and those who shouldn’t start. We are fighting for lungs that burn from exercise rather than from ozone. We are fighting for asthma education to stop children from dying from asthma attacks. We are fighting for laws that improve air quality both inside and out.

And we won’t breathe easy until we win the fight.

 How YOU Can Climb to End Lung Disease1

Step 1. Register online by clicking on the appropriate link to the right - $25 registration fee per person.  Early Bird Registration through September 24th: $15! Register today!

Step 2. Set a fundraising goal (we suggest $200). Ask friends, family and co-workers to support your fundraising efforts with a donation.   Please note $100 fundraising minimum per person is required to participate. 

Step 3. Aim high and earn a great prize. All participants who meet their $100 fundraising minimum or more will receive an official climb t-shirt and medal. The more you raise, the better the prize you can earn. 

Online registration is fast and easy and allows you to get started raising money right away. If you have additional questions contact your local ALA office at 407-425-5864 or email jmiddents@lungfla.org.  Online registration for this event will close on Thursday, November 11th, 2010.  You can still register over the phone after the 11th by calling the office.  We also welcome walkups for a $125 registration fee.   

All participants must be registered and have a minimum of $100 in fundraising received by November 13th, 2010 to assure smooth check-in the day of the event. Pledges can aslo be turned in the day of the event.
